Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Lhasa

Upon your arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa Railway Station, your Tibetan guide and driver will greet you with a white scarf. This is a very traditional way of welcoming a friend in Tibet, and it marks the beginning of your journey.

The airport is about 60 kilometers from downtown Lhasa, while the train station is only 15 kilometers away. Your guide and driver will help you with your luggage and take you directly to your hotel. We keep the first day completely free—no sightseeing, no rushing. This gentle introduction helps your body begin to acclimatize to the altitude (Lhasa sits at 3,650 meters). Rest in your hotel, drink plenty of water, and take a short walk if you feel comfortable. Your guide will be available to answer any questions and prepare you for the days ahead.

Tibet Nature Tour

Important: Potala Palace tickets are limited and time‑specific. We secure your slot using your passport details – please share your passport with your guide immediately upon arrival.

Morning: Begin the day by visiting Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the winter residence of the Dalai Lama. Note that the entry requires a visitation time ticket, so we’ll coordinate this based on availability.

Afternoon: We go to visit the spiritual heart of Tibet, Jokhang Temple, followed by a stroll through Barkhor Street, a vibrant marketplace steeped in local culture and pilgrimage traditions.

Evening: You will have time to explore the old part of the city on your own.

Morning: Start at Norbulingka Palace, the serene summer retreat of the Dalai Lama, surrounded by lush gardens.

Afternoon: Head to Sera Monastery, renowned for its lively monk debates on Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. We recommend timing your visit to witness this captivating ritual (typically held in the early afternoon).

Evening: Free time to relax or explore local areas.

Depart Lhasa and drive across the Tibetan countryside. Begin by crossing Gampa La Pass (4,900 m) for a bird’s‑eye view of Yamdrok Lake – the “Turquoise Lake” revered as one of Tibet’s three holiest lakes. Guru Padmasambhava meditated here for three months; during auspicious lunar periods, Tibetans perform a sacred circumambulation (kora) around its shores. On clear days, the Nyinchen Khangsar Range (peak 7,300 m) dominates the horizon.

Continue over Karola Pass (5,000 m) to witness Karola Glacier, the seventh largest glacier in Tibet. In Gyantse, visit Pelkhor Choede Monastery (15th century), known for its original murals, and the nine‑story Kumbum Stupa with 108 chapels – a sacred mandala symbolizing the Buddha’s body, speech, and mind.

Proceed to Shigatse, Tibet’s second‑largest city, for overnight.

how to get to Tibet

Today’s 350‑km journey brings you face‑to‑face with the world’s highest peak. You’ll cross the Gyawo La Pass (5,100 m) , where a sweeping panorama of the Himalayan Range unfolds – including all five of the world’s eight‑thousanders visible from Tibet: Mount Everest (8,848 m) , LhotseMakaluCho Oyu, and Shishapangma.

As you drive through traditional Tibetan villages perched above 4,600 m, you’ll witness the remarkable resilience of high‑altitude life. Next, visit Rongbuk Monastery (5,000 m) – the world’s highest monastery, with a history of over 1,300 years, where Guru Padmasambhava once meditated.

Conclude the day at Everest Base Camp to witness a breathtaking sunset over Mt. Everest – a moment of pure wonder that lingers long after you leave.

7 Days Tibet to Nepal Tour

Depart early from Everest Base Camp and drive 280 km toward the Nepal border – a journey of approximately seven hours. The route first takes you past the shimmering Peiku Tso Lake, where the turquoise waters perfectly mirror the snow‑capped Mount Shishapangma (8,027 m) , the only eight‑thousander lying entirely within Tibetan territory. This is a photographer’s dream and a moment of pure Himalayan grandeur. After crossing Gongtang La Pass, the landscape begins to change dramatically. The road descends through a series of switchback bends into the Kyirong Valley, where the arid, high‑altitude plateau gives way to lush alpine forests, cascading streams, and a noticeably warmer, more humid climate. The contrast is striking – from stark mountain deserts to verdant valleys reminiscent of the Swiss Alps. You’ll overnight in Kyirong Town, the last stop before crossing into Nepal, surrounded by the gentle beauty of this hidden Tibetan gem.

Micheal G
It was a very lovely time, an extremely skilled guide with a wealth of expertise, a wealth of explanations, and the ability to react to a variety of situations. He picked me up from my hotel, which made me feel quite at ease. He took care of everything, so I didn't have to worry about anything. Even after the walk was over, he showed me things to do around my hotel. I really recommend him because he speaks English well and is easy to understand. You won't be disappointed if you ask for Tashi.
